joco star trek wrath of con

JoCo Goes to Panama City

Toaster would do a much funnier job narrating these pictures but I'm tired and if i don't post these tonight they probably won't get posted. :)

Last Saturday JoCo, Monkeys, Raven, LLL, and I went to the initial run of Wrath of Con, Panama City's brand new science fiction convention. It was so small compared to Dragoncon but they did a good job for their first and we had a great time. Raven and I compeated in the costume contest - that's why I'm dressed as the Tenth Doctor in these pictures and Raven is holding his Kahn desert gear from Star Trek's Wrath of Kahn. Anyway, here are some pictures.Collapse )
Sadly, I did not get a picture of JoCo with Richard Hatch. I was too chicken!

EDIT: I made a new icon from one of the Wrath of Con pictures.

Some more JoCo icons!

hahaha There should be a law against posting after a trip to Azteca. My apologies in advance!!

Four more icons. My husband's kilt sporran was a temporary home for JoCo. I have a couple of pictures of him in there because it was so cute.

I love the sleeve picture because that's JoCo stuffed down Toast's sweater. If I remember correctly she kept saying in a slightly Arnold Schwarzenegger voice "I haf a bear for a haaand".

I adored Lochanside and not only was she gracious enough to pose with JoCo she pointed out the plaid heart and welcomed back in the shop any time.

I have a GREAT video of the boys from the Kamayacha Gypsy Band where the guitarest (what's his name???) is playing dramatic music for him.

We still have LOADS of people we didn't get a chance to do JoCo pictures, thank goodness we'll be back in a few weeks! Yay!! Okay, head spinning. I should stop now! :)

A few GARF JoCo Icons :)

How do performers make it? I'm exhausted just from the drive! And Toast did all the driving, all I had to do was ride. So I have paused from my unpacking to start a few JoCo icons from GARF. Ultimately I want to make them into an animated gif but for now here are the ones I've got done. I'm really proud of the Joni Minstral one!! I cut them out completely and did text behind them (it says "joco and joni, joni and joco, revolution" over and over again). Thanks to all of you for posing with the traveling bear! We still have to get a few of you next trip. I also have a short video of the gypsy band playing a song with him - but I have no idea how to upload videos so that will be a while. :)

Anyway, I still need to write about the trip and catch up on everyone else's posts about it so that will hopefully be done before the end of the week. Until then - it was WONDERFUL getting to see everyone and I cannot wait for our next trip. You all did amazing jobs with the singing and performing and choreography and swordplay. Kudos!!

Installment ONE... of many!!

Cross posted on disbandedtoastr.

My friends worked hard to make this my best birthday ever!!
In addition to a trip to Atlanta to see Jonathan Coulton, there were presents involved, a birthday dinner, friends coming into town, and a hand-made Alphabet crafted exclusively for me by madladyred!

Madlady’s drawings are SO cute that I have to post them for everybody to see. =o)
So… in this first installment, I present to you A... B... & C...Collapse )

code monkey think?

I made an icon! What do Code Monkeys think?

Would anyone be interested in having an icon challenge or an icon game? Perhaps involving JoCoBear or by picking a Coulton song where people can use whatever lyric they wish? :) MLR posting as JoCoGo...

Thumbs up for T-Shirts!

I keep mentioning John’s brilliant t-shirt design but not showing it. So here is a picture of me and Toaster in two variations of the design. I’m wearing the quad and she’s wearing just Skullcrusher Mountain.

Both JoCo and his opening act Paul and Storm were really impressed with the shirts! It made me really happy though a bit guilty since John wasn’t there to hear their praise. Paul and Storm actually chatted with me for a while about the shirts asking what he did and why didn’t he enter the design in JoCo’s t-shirt contest. They also asked for me to email the file to them so I got their web address – that was really cool. I was so excited about that I forgot to ask for a picture with them so instead here’s one I photoshopped.

When we met JoCo himself he also stared intently at the design looking impressed (or perhaps he was staring intently at our chests but I believe it was the design…). I babbled about my husband and how amazing he was and how guilty I felt because he did such a great design then wasn’t allowed to come to the show because it was a “girls only” weekend/Toaster’s special birthday treat and asked him to write something suitable to kind of make it not be so bad – I was thinking something with lots of praise. I also got a picture of him as proof he thought they were OK. He really looked at the designs intently (each one) and seemed really touched that we brought a copy for him, which he put behind the table. He saw John’s name where I had written it in the corner and agreed that John should have autographed it for him.

Then he signed all of ours autograph heavenCollapse ) but I forgot to get one signed for me. Sigh.

Go, JoCo, Go!! (JoCoBear's New Theme Song)

JoCoBear has a theme song! The opening act for JoCo was a duo named Paul & Storm (on their website they actually talk about Atlanta PaulandStorm). I didn't know there would be an opening act but it turns out some of us had actually heard them before. They do a great spoof with the idea that every movie would be better if Randy Newman wrote the theme. Somehow they manage to work in the phrases "you my friend", "Go, (main character) Go!", and "nobody believed that he would win" into every song. Here's a link to their version of Seabiscuit, Scarface, Lord of the Rings, Citizen Kane, and (forgive me) The Passion of the Christ.

Anyway - if check those out first this will be funnier. If you can listen to one of them so that you can actually sing this it's even better.

Driving to Atlanta
Free Chocolate sign caught Redd’s eye
But when we stopped we saw this cute bear inside
Nobody believed that he would win
Now he’s our trip mascot
He travels far and wide
Taking pictures with us alongside
Nobody believed that he would win
Go, JoCo, Go!
You my friend...
